Kids and Family: Our Philosophy

Hebrew School

We seek to instill in the children of West End Synagogue a love of Judaism and Jewish culture.

In our afternoon Hebrew school, we teach from the Reconstructionist perspective of Judaism as an evolving religious civilization. We encourage an atmosphere that supports questions and exploration. We stress hands-on, experiential learning, since we believe students learn best when actively engaged in discussion and class projects.

Because children's interest and excitement in Judaism intensifies when they see their parents' involvement in Jewish learning and synagogue life, we provide many opportunities throughout the year for families to work and celebrate together.

To make it easier for all members of the family to worship, we offer child care, children's programs and family services, both for Shabbat throughout the year and during the High Holy Days.
