Jews - Rock 'n Roll Medley
Ken Klein

To: I Only Want To Be With You (originally sung by Dusty Springfield)
I never thought we Jewish folk would have a chance
Thought Haman's plot, the king's decree was our last dance
But somethin' about us just refused to die
They didn't count on Esther or on Mordechai
Didn't even mind the fa-ast!
'Cause tomorrow our oppression's past!

To: One Summer Night (originally sung by The Danleers)
One Adar day
Haman picked out -- our
Annihilation seemed beyond a doubt
Now our trumpets resound!
How quickly things turn around!

To: I Wonder Why (originally sung by The Dell Vikings)
Well I wonder why
It seemed we had no choice
Children of heroes
It seems we lost our voice
Throughout the empire thousands gathered to attack
Did we really need an edict to allow us to fight back?
To fight back, back, to fight back!

Sometimes the comf'table forget from whence they came
Forget their promises and act like life's a game
Esther and Mordechai made many lessons clear
So celebrate this Purim day, in each and ev'ry year
Ev'ry year, year, year!

To: Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? (originally sung by Carole King)
With Esther, Mordechai 'n faith in Torah
We've survived another round in the dias- pora
But doubts abound
'Bout the survival of our nation
Jews living in two civilizations!

Today we've vanquished evil Haman!
Of problems, he's not the only one -a -un
We face internal disintegration
Our faith's ripe (yes, it's ripe)
For re-con-struct-ion-a -a -un!

Face it, we've problems that need solving
Religious culture's still evolving
Today, we've won
But we must win again
Jews living in two civilizations!

To: Come Softly To Me (originally sung by The Fleetwoods)
Oh! Jewish nation!
Hear what I say!
The Lord's our salvation
On this our Purim da-yay!

Now and forever!
The Lord, He forgives
His promises, he won't sever
The covenant still lives!
