We will not underestimate our power any longer
We know that together we are strong.
Like drops of water shape the rocks

A sermon for Shabbat Hazon
We are hovering an inch from rock bottom.
On the 17th of Tamuz, 3 weeks ago, we recalled the day when the walls of Jerusalem were breached and we felt our sense of wellbeing crack as enemies forced their way into our sacred city.

This week’s parsha, Tazria, is one that makes a lot of people want to stay away from shul. Because well, it’s gross. It’s a lot of blood, a lot of talk of purity and impurity and, of course, a lot of vivid descriptions of tz’ra’at, often translated as leprosy.
